Frost Burned ~ Patricia Briggs

Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7)Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it! Maybe my favorite book in the series, besides the first.
Mercy is back and kicking some butt!

Summary:
Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more…

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

My take:

Wow there is so much to say here. First off I was so excited to read this one. Mercy is one of those characters who you always love. Briggs has managed to keep the character true to herself throughout the series. Which can be a daunting task when you are this many books into the series. I love how much thought the author has put into the storyline as a collective whole (including whats going on in the Alpha and Omega series). I have a friend who went back and read each book in the series so that she could freshen up her Mercy knowledge. From what she said their were subtle hints throught the series in regards to what was to come. I wish I had the time to do the same, I may put them back in the TBR pile before the next Mercy book comes out.
I can't wait to see what the Grey Lords really have in store for us, oh and if Coyote will show up again. One of the reason I thought this novel was so great was that Mercy was the exact person the readers have grown to love. Smart mouthed, jump in head first, worry about everyone but herself Mercy. Lucky for her she has some old friends who help her along the way. Of course there are some new ones as well, one or two I'd love to see a few side stories on, like Asil.
I only wish Patricia Briggs was touring the area again this year. Last years book signing was an amazing experience. If you are in an area that she will be visiting I highly recommned you go.
